It may be that I have a warped sense of humor. Or not. Anyway, through the years, we’ve had fun with unique street names, sayings on T-shirts, clever advertising, or how a couple of signs adjacent to each other play out.
Great examples of adjacent signs included a driving school next door to a liquor store. The signs read, “Driving Essentials” “Liquor, Beer, & Wine”. Another was a radiator shop next to a laundry & dry cleaner whose signs read, “Got a leak?” and “Drop your pants here”. Then there was the sign for a storage facility with its sign just above the sign for a cemetery with an arrow indicating the entrance. Another one was a dispensary next door to a lobster stand with the sign reading “Cannabis Cooked Lobster”.
Other signs could benefit with punctuation or appropriate spacing like “Slow Golfers” or “Eat Here Get Gas” and “Robin’s Donuts For Lease” .
In Arizona, we saw a convenience store claiming “Our beer is colder than your ex-wife’s heart”. In Michigan, we saw an antique store named “Dead People’s Stuff” and the entrance was flanked by two skeletons sitting in lawn chairs. Somewhere Massachusetts, we saw a street named “Fresh Holes Road”. In Quebec, a used car lot claimed to have used cars for everyone and their line-up of used cars included about a dozen kid’s toy cars of all sizes. In New Brunswick we saw a liquor store Wine-O-Warehouse. We were traveling through a town in single lane of traffic as the adjacent lane was closed for a race. We saw a man dressed as Jesus holding a sign saying “The End is Near”.

Dead Peoples Stuff was an Antique & Collectibles Shop near Traverse City, Michigan in 2018. Seeing that was what started my collection of funny signs, clever names of businesses, slogans, T-shirts, bumper stickers, and sayings.

This is one of my all-time favorites, a Garage and Auto Parts Store near Richmond, PEI, Canada (2025)

This is pretty special to me as John really loves green chilis.
